Aerobica
Aerobica: (Homage)
Born in 2019 in Santiago as a monthly club night for 200 people, AEROBICA is now one of the hottest parties in the Chilean and Latin American underground. But not just that — it's also the name of the musical project formed by its co-founders and hosts, Nico Castro and Pepo Fernández, two key actors in Santiago's scene who connected magically in the form of DJ sets that are recognized for its high doses of energy, mixing masterfully genres like jackin' house, disco, italo, rave and sentimental techno through forgotten classics and hard to find gems. This translates into unpredictable and fun workout sessions known for having no inhibitions when it comes to making people dance.
In 2021, their skills in the studio showed its first results with the release of their debut EP on New York's label HOMAGE, with a string of timeless dance songs that keep being played all over the world. Their awaited second EP, Work Me, came out via SMIILE — the label and collective founded by Chloé Caillet, alongside some new remixes and collaborations with artists within and without the dance music spectrum. All of this while they keep adding dates to an increasingly stacked touring schedule that has already seen them go multiple times all over the Americas and Europe. Simultaneously, the duo keeps promoting their own event in Santiago, known for building an inclusive and queer environment, that serves as a platform to mainly Latin American like-minded artists. After six years and counting, South America's hottest workout gathers nearly 2.000 devoted dancers per edition.
By the looks of it, AEROBICA is just warming up.
